Arthur was the son of Henry and Anne and lived at one time on corner of the High Street and the Aston Abbots Road.  In 1911, he was the postmaster at Thornborough having been an electricity cable layer in his youth.

He married Gertrude Kate Rolls, the daughter of Edmund and Hannah on Boxing Day 1901. They had one daughter and two sons. His brother Ernest Thomas is buried Row D No 20.
